BLK extends apparel partnership with Rebels

The Melbourne Rebels have announced on Friday it has renewed its partnership with foundation sportswear manufactuer BLK until 2020.

The sports apparel giant will remain the Official Team Wear Sponsor of the Melbourne Rebels, including its development programs, for the next three years by providing club with its training and playing apparel and merchanside retail range.

The new contract will see the Rebels and BLK celebrate a decade-long partnership after the sportswear manufactuer, previously known as KooGa, teamed up with the Super Rugby club for their debut season in 2011.

“We’re pleased to be able to continue our great long-standing relationship with foundation partner BLK for another three seasons,” Melbourne Rebels general manager commercial Steve Mitchell said.

“The high-quality of BLK’s teamwear and merchandise range are second to none so we look forward to working closely with the apparel manufactuer to continue to develop exciting new on and off field products.”

The agreement will see BLK retain the rights to the club’s official retail range including the operations of merchandise stores on game day at AAMI Park and the online shop (hyperlink: http://www.blksport.com/pro-teams/melbourne-rebels.htm)

BLK chief executive officer Tyron Brant said the sportswear manufactuer was excited to continue their relationship with the Rebels.

“The well publicised recent issues for the brand are behind us. The BLK globally is in a very strong position to capitalise on the rock solid foundation that has been laid over the last 10 years.

The Melbourne Rebels have shown that this deal is a true partnership and not just a sponsorship. Andrew and his full team demonstrated what true partnerships should be through good times and hard times and BLK could not be prouder to enter into a new deal with the Rebels.” Brant said.

The Melbourne Rebels continue their 2017 Vodafone Super Rugby campaign against the Wellington Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, on Saturday 4 March from 3.15pm (AEDT).

The Rebels return home after the bye to host the Chiefs in Round 4 on Friday 17 March at AAMI Park, Melbourne, from 7.45pm (AEDT). Membership and single game tickets are still available from melbournerebels.com.
