Marvellous Milestones

At elite level, sporting milestones are measured in blocks of 50, that is after the pomp and ceremony surrounding a players debut match has been dealt.

Most players like to file their sporting memories away focusing on the next challenge, while fans look to celebrate every occasion with and for their favourite player.

That will certainly be the case when two of the Gold Coast Titans favourites run out onto CBUS Super Stadium to take on the Brisbane Broncos on Friday night.

Kevin Gordon or “Flash” as he is affectionately known will be looking to edge team mate David Mead out as the Clubs all time leading try scorer when he runs out for his 100th NRL match in front of what is expected to be one of the biggest crowds seen at Robina in several years.

Flash could  and probably would have achieved the milestone much earlier had he not been struck down with a career threatening leg injury.

Now he’s arrived at 99 games, we’re sure the pain and challenges faced in the past will make Kevin’s 100th appearance even sweeter.

And then there is Luke Archibald Douglas, who stands poised to set a the unlikeliest of sporting records when he trots out to hold up the Titans scrum on Friday.

Not content with breaking the games consecutive games record in round one this year, Douglas who made his NRL debut coincidently against Brisbane in 2006 will become the quickest player in history to achieve 200 first grade appearances.

They are milestones worth celebrating and both are examples of players who have gone #beyondlimitsknown to achieve their goals and realise dreams.
